Double Workshop Day

Workshops are back! It’s been a while since I’ve offered either of these, and it’s important to me to teach them together. I’ll be teaching the foundational Intro to Trauma-Informed Tattooing workshop in the morning and Beyond Trauma-Informed Tattooing in the afternoon, with a short lunch break in between. If you are new to these, I highly recommend both. The suggested cost for the full day is $85, or $60 for the Intro class and $25 for the Beyond class, but all are pay what you wish. If you can pay the high end (or higher!) please do- it helps me continue to offer these and do the ongoing research in between that keeps the material current and valuable. A portion of class proceeds will be donated to We the People, an abolitionist collective and mutual aid organization in Bed-Stuy.

Sunday, August 27th

11:00 am-1:00 pm EST ~ Intro to Trauma-Informed Tattooing

This two-hour workshop will be a virtual introduction to the concept of trauma-informed tattooing. We will discuss trauma and PTSD through an anti-oppression lens, how they exist within the practice of tattooing, and practices to facilitate a safer and more empowering experience for clients. Narrated by tattoo artist Tamara Santibañez, this presentation covers communication methods, building trust with clients, and considering needs beyond basic client care.

The workshop includes live captioning. For any additional access needs, please email santibaneztattoo@gmail.com.

Please note: the workshop will be recorded.

Workshop payment can be made via Venmo to @tamara-santibanez, CashApp to $TamaraSantibanez, or PayPal to santibaneztattoo@gmail.com.

2:00-3:30 Pm EST ~ Beyond Trauma-Informed Tattooing

This discussion-based workshop will raise observations and criticisms of trauma-informed care’s trajectory within the tattoo industry, focusing on the ways language is co-opted by capitalism.  We will place trauma-informed practices into relationship with radical frameworks and consider how to center our practices in our values, as well as how to be more discerning when encountering “safe space” labeling.  I envision this space as one to bring challenges you’ve run into and to workshop alternatives, dreaming a more liberatory practice into the future.

The workshop includes live captioning.  For any additional access needs, please email santibaneztattoo@gmail.com.

Please note: the workshop will not be recorded in order to provide attendees with a sense of confidentiality and to enable sharing among our group.

Workshop payment can be made via Venmo to @tamara-santibanez, CashApp to $TamaraSantibanez, or PayPal to santibaneztattoo@gmail.com.
