Upcoming Workshops!

Update: sold out! I’ll be announcing next dates soon, but you can also purchase a pre-recorded version of the workshop here.

After a long hiatus, I’m teaching again with a back-to-back two-day series: Intro to Trauma-Informed Tattooing and Beyond Trauma-Informed Tattooing.

Intro to Trauma-Informed Tattooing

Sunday, November 13th

6-8pm EST

Virtual via Zoom

Register here

Suggested price between $25-$50 (payment via Paypal to santibaneztattoo@gmail.com or Venmo to @tamara-santibanez, with emojis in note). This workshop is FREE for Black and Indigenous people.

This two-hour workshop will be a virtual introduction to the concept of trauma-informed tattooing. We will discuss trauma and PTSD through an anti-oppression lens, how they exist within the practice of tattooing, and practices to facilitate a safer and more empowering experience for clients. Narrated by tattoo artist Tamara Santibañez, this presentation covers communication methods, building trust with clients, and considering needs beyond basic client care.  Our time together will include breakout rooms and discussion time to share collective knowledge and ask each other questions.

The workshop includes live captioning.  For any additional access needs, please email santibaneztattoo@gmail.com.

Please note: the workshop will not be recorded in order to provide attendees with a sense of confidentiality and to enable sharing among our group.  An alternate pre-recording of the workshop is available here.

Beyond Trauma-Informed Tattooing

Exploring its co-optation, assimilation, and shortcomings

Monday, November 14th

6-8pm EST

Register here.

Suggested price $25 (payment via Paypal to santibaneztattoo@gmail.com or Venmo to @tamara-santibanez, with emojis in note), but is open to all regardless of ability to pay anything. 20% of workshop sales will be donated to mutual aid funds.

This discussion-based workshop will raise observations and criticisms of trauma-informed care’s trajectory within the tattoo industry, focusing on the ways language is co-opted by capitalism.  We will place trauma-informed practices into relationship with radical frameworks and consider how to center our practices in our values, as well as how to be more discerning when encountering “safe space” labeling.  I envision this space as one to bring challenges you’ve run into and to workshop alternatives, dreaming a more liberatory practice into the future.

The workshop includes live captioning.  For any additional access needs, please email santibaneztattoo@gmail.com.

Please note: the workshop will not be recorded in order to provide attendees with a sense of confidentiality and to enable sharing among our group.
